To be honest, boutique hotels in Swansea are a little thin on the ground. If you’re looking for something fancy or a typical design hotel, you might be disappointed.
I wouldn’t worry too much though, as the region is beautiful and includes the scenic village of Mumbles and elsewhere on the Gower Peninsula.
However, there are some very decent hotels in Swansea city centre and by Swansea Bay. You might consider one of these hotels that are listed in our guide below, the hotels we believe are the best available.
Boutique Hotels in Swansea, Glamorgan
Many visitors to Swansea prefer to stay in the city centre, where you’ll find most of the city’s hotels.
Central Swansea has the most popular sights and attractions, including the National Waterfront Museum, the famous Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, Swansea Castle, the Dylan Thomas Theatre, Plantasia and the Maritime Quarter.
Further away are numerous beaches, Swansea Botanical Gardens and The Mumbles seaside village.
Top Pick
The Grand HotelAddress: Ivey Place, Swansea, Glamorgan, Wales
As one of the few luxury hotels in Swansea, The Grand Hotel is our top pick for both leisure and business visitors. Located in the city centre, not far from Swansea train station, the hotel is within walking distance to many of the city’s sights, activities and great places to eat and drink. The classic design features of the rooms suit the 1930s building and you’ll find comfortable beds in spacious, light-filled rooms.
Features:
- Excellent location opposite the train station.
- Spacious rooms.
- Popular on-site bar and restaurant.
- Tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
- 10-minute walk to the beach.
Pros: Known for their friendly and helpful staff and clean, comfortable rooms. Close to everything Swansea has to offer.
Cons: Not as close to the beach as other hotels. The design might be too traditional for some.

Well-located in the Maritime Quarter on the edge of the city centre, Morgans Hotel is a great option for a short stay or city break in Swansea. The beautiful Grade II building adds historic character to your stay. This area of Swansea is bustling with restaurants and nightlife and is only a short walk to the waterfront and beach. The Mumbles and Gower coastline is a 15-minute drive away. Morgans has free parking, which is a bonus if you plan on exploring the region by car.
Towers Hotel & Spa
Address: Jersey Marine, Swansea Bay, Swansea, Wales, UK
If you don’t mind staying a little outside of Swansea, Towers Hotel is a lovely spa hotel located four miles from the city centre. This is definitely a hotel for those with a car and this would give you quick access to Aberavon Beach, the city of Swansea and the Gower Peninsula. The hotel has great facilities that include a swimming pool, sauna, steam room and spa bath as well as a gym, massages and beauty treatments. This could be a nice option if you are looking for a pampering weekend away. The reviews for this hotel are excellent, do have a look and see if this would suit your needs.
