Liège is a river city with a compact old centre and hilly quarters rising above it, and the boutique hotels in Liège follow that shape: a small design hotel on an old lane in the centre, and a few highly rated B&Bs on the slopes and near the main station. These picks suit a weekend of food and museums, or an easy stop on the rail line between Brussels and Germany.
Boutique Hotels in Liège
Every hotel here is rated 9 or higher by Booking.com guests from hundreds of reviews, has real character (a heritage building, a design-led interior or a hands-on host) and sits close to the Prince-Bishops’ Palace or the main station. Few hotels in Liège clear that bar, so three of our four picks are B&Bs. We read the reviews so you don’t have to: what guests love, and the one thing they complain about.
- Top Pick: Hotel Neuvice, a small design hotel in the heart of the old town
- Next Best: Faubourg Saint Martin, the highest-rated of our picks, in the historic Mont Saint-Martin quarter
- Good Value: B&B The Street Lodge, roomy and quiet, close to Liège-Guillemins station
- Luxury: Maison du Roi, a five-star B&B with spa baths in the rooms
- Where to Stay: the best areas of Liège for each kind of trip
Hotel Neuvice
Address: En Neuvice 45, Liège
Area: Historic centre, 350 m from the Prince-Bishops’ Palace
Guest rating: 9.2/10 on Booking.com
Hotel Neuvice is the one true small hotel in central Liège that clears our bar, and it has the best location of the lot: Booking rates it 9.6 for location, and the Hôtel de Ville and the Perron fountain are both about 100 m away. It sits on En Neuvice, an old lane that once linked the Place du Marché with the former Pont des Arches and was known for its goldsmiths and printers. The hotel describes its style as contemporary design that respects the heritage of the building, and guests single out the mix of old timber beams and modern industrial furnishings.
Rooms open onto a central courtyard, and there is a bar, a library and a buffet breakfast served in the breakfast room. The banks of the Meuse are less than 200 m away and Liège-Palais station is 650 m, so arriving by train is easy.
Guests love: the character of the building, the friendly staff, and a location that is right in the centre yet quiet at night. The breakfast cheese selection gets regular mentions too.
Watch out for: there is no lift, and the antique staircases are narrow, so travellers with limited mobility should ask for a lower room. Wooden floors can also carry noise between rooms.

Faubourg Saint Martin
Address: Rue du Mont Saint Martin 49, Liège
Area: Mont Saint-Martin, 650 m from the Prince-Bishops’ Palace
Guest rating: 9.4/10 on Booking.com
Check Availability
Faubourg Saint Martin is the highest-rated of our picks, scoring 9.5 or above for staff, cleanliness, comfort and facilities. It is a bed and breakfast on Mont Saint-Martin, the city’s old aristocratic quarter, where the canons of the collegiate church built large private mansions with inner courtyards. The Collégiale Saint-Martin is practically next door, and the Opéra Royal de Wallonie is 650 m away.
Rooms range from doubles to a deluxe apartment, with city or courtyard views, soundproofing and a terrace for guests. Breakfast is rated exceptional on Booking, and parking is free.
Reviewers consistently praise the beautiful building, the tasteful furnishing, quality bedding and an owner who goes out of the way to help. The recurring complaint is the hill: the centre is a short walk down, but the climb back up is steep and can be tiring.
B&B The Street Lodge
Address: Rue Dartois 17A, Liège
Area: Guillemins, 500 m from Liège-Guillemins station
Guest rating: 9.1/10 on Booking.com
Check Availability
The Street Lodge is the pick for anyone arriving by train. It is a bed and breakfast with a garden and terrace 500 m from Liège-Guillemins, the city’s main station, and 850 m from the Parc d’Avroy. The old town is further away here (Booking puts it at 1.9 km from the centre), but La Boverie museum and park is 1.1 km away.
Rooms include doubles and a suite with a terrace, all with a kitchenette, tea and coffee maker, air conditioning and parquet floors. Paid private parking is available on site, and breakfast is rated exceptional on Booking.
Guests mention large, quiet and spotless rooms and bathrooms, a generous breakfast and a warm welcome from the host. A few find the rooms simple in style, and groups booking several rooms may find them split across two neighbouring buildings.
Maison du Roi
Address: 7 Rue Louis Fraigneux, Liège
Area: Sainte-Croix, 750 m from the Prince-Bishops’ Palace
Guest rating: 9.2/10 on Booking.com
Check Availability
Maison du Roi is listed on Booking as a five-star bed and breakfast, and it is the most indulgent stay on this list. Rooms come with a hot tub or spa bath, a balcony, soundproofing and city views, and there is a terrace for guests. It sits on the slopes above the centre, 550 m from the Église Sainte-Croix and 800 m from Saint-Lambert Square and the Opéra.
Room categories run from a standard double up to a superior king, and guests also mention a shared kitchen, a lounge and a garden to sit in after a day of sightseeing. Remote check-in makes late arrivals simple.
Reviewers keep coming back to the attentive host, the spotless rooms, comfortable beds and the spa bath as a highlight. The main complaints are practical: top-floor rooms mean stairs, and parking nearby can be hard to find.
Where to Stay in Liège
Historic centre: the area around the Place du Marché, the Hôtel de Ville and the Prince-Bishops’ Palace suits first-time visitors and anyone who wants to walk everywhere. Restaurants and bars are on the doorstep, and the Meuse quays are close by. Hotel Neuvice is here.
Mont Saint-Martin: the old aristocratic quarter on the hill above the centre suits couples and travellers who want quiet nights and heritage streets. Its mansions and inner courtyards give it a calmer feel than the streets below, though the walk back up is steep. Faubourg Saint Martin is here.
Sainte-Croix: the streets near the Église Sainte-Croix suit a slower, more relaxed stay within walking distance of the sights. Maison du Roi is here.
Guillemins: the area around the main station suits train travellers, short stopovers and anyone heading on to Germany or to Brussels, where we’ve grouped the best Brussels boutique hotels by district. It is further from the old town, but close to the Parc d’Avroy and La Boverie. B&B The Street Lodge is here.
