Luxury Accommodation in Albany: The Best Places to Stay

Western Australia’s southern coast is home to some of the country’s most beautiful landscapes and beaches. There are countless things to do and places to visit and Albany is one of the best cities to use as a base to explore the region.

In this guide, I recommend the best places to stay, including luxury accommodation in Albany and nearby Denmark.

At the centre of the Great Southern Wine Region, minutes from the wild Torndirrup National Park and a short drive to the incredible Porongorup National Park as well as pristine beaches, Albany is perfect for a weekend away from Perth or a longer stay.

Luxury Accommodation Albany

Regarding luxury accommodation, I recommend one boutique hotel in Albany, above all others, the Beach House at Bayside.

Beach House at Bayside

The Albany-Denmark region isn’t known for its luxury accommodation and boutique hotels but The Beach House at Bayside is the best you’ll find and highly recommended. Located a short walk to Middleton Beach, Albany’s famous city beach, it’s also close to Emu Point and Albany’s historical quarter and city sights. The comfy king bed rooms with spa bath are the most luxurious or you can choose a villa room with balcony or the garden suite. The Beach House isn’t a classic boutique hotel but rather a stylish modern choice of accommodation in a great central location.

Hilton Garden Inn Albany
Address: 3 Toll Place, Albany, Australia
Where to stay for a proper luxury hotel experience? The Hilton Garden Inn is the best place to stay in Albany city centre. The 4 star hotel is located in Albany city centre, directly on the bay across from Albany Town Jetty. This is an ideal location to be within easy access to the city’s top cafes, restaurants and historical attractions.

For example, Anzac Peace Park, Big Amity and the Old Gaol Museum are only a few minutes away on foot. There are two theatres and music venues nearby as well.

Outside of Albany, there are a few other high-end or luxury options if you don’t mind staying a bit further away, for example, in the nearby coastal town of Denmark.

Hotels in Denmark near Albany

If you don’t need to be in Albany’s town centre, Denmark is a small town 40 minutes’ drive west of Albany.

It’s more rural and rustic than Albany, but it’s possibly more beautiful with many wineries, fishing spots and stunning Greens Pool for swimming.

Aiyana Retreat
Address: 28-38 Anning Road, Denmark, Australia (near Albany)
Private chalet accommodation with cooking facilities, BBQ and large garden area. The retreat has a wellness building where you can take private yoga classes and have a massage or beauty treatment.

Granted, it is difficult to find minimalist-style luxury accommodation in Albany, but it’s worth the trip to see the rugged coastline and powdery white sandy beaches while enjoying the delicious cuisine and discovering the complex history of one of Australia’s oldest cities.

Stay in the Southwest

Many more options are available elsewhere in the southwest, particularly in the Margaret River region. This guide to Margaret River accommodation includes some ecotourism lodges and places to stay.
